|
|
Hi all! Just signed up on the forum to let you guys know that, if you should buy foreign coins on Ebay, watch out for a seller based out of Israel. Unfortunately I left feedback before examining the coin closely (was in a hurry-- I know, lame). I looked back at his other coin sales--the seller sells primarily computer equipment--and saw other examples; at least 1 other buyer DID discover their fake in time to put it in their feedback.
The seller alternates nationality of each coin that they fake (French, Chinese, Argentinian, etc), but they all have about the same size and rim, the seller is clearly trying to go for silver crowns each time.
Of course I was a fool for buying it, trusting a really crap photograph; fortunately, I paid 5 bucks+s/h for it (the Insured shipping to the US wasn't cheap, add in Ebay's nice seller fee and they didn't get so much out of me!). It's a few dollars paid to learn an invaluable lesson about online coin buying! |

That isn't bad for getting ripped off; I lost $100.00 when i recieved a coin from Hong Kong which was not pictured... I was new and vulnerable to the dangers of eBay scams at the time.
I wouldn't buy any U.S. coins from any asian countries. |

| I buy on ebay a lot but i am always weary of overseas sellers especially asian countries and former soviet bloc countries since these are known for counterfeits. I bought a few from a german seller and some from great britian with no problem. I only buy with clear photos and always read back on their feed back. At leat you didn't get ripped that much and learned now to beware. |

Dear gentlement,
If you are collecting Chinese copper cash coin and trying to source on ebay, it is very high risk as I noticed too many fake coins being listed by China and HK ebay seller.
So watch out. Just a friendly advice.
